Frequently asked
questions and answers
Where exactly are you located?
Hazelgrove is located in Inverfarigaig, midway down the quiet south side of Loch Ness. The city
of Inverness is only 16 miles away.
Where is the nearest airport or
train/bus stations?
Inverness is the nearest airport, only 45 minutes drive from Hazelgrove.
There are flights
from across the UK so wherever you are based, flying is now an
easy option to reach the Highlands. If you don't wish to fly, the nearest
train and bus
stations are in the city of Inverness.
How many rooms do you have and
how many people can you accommodate?
We offer flexible accommodation for 4 persons.
We have two double bedrooms and one single bedroom. Normally our two double
rooms are available to let but if you are a family with two children,
we can offer the two double bedrooms and the single bedroom. One
of the double bedrooms has a king size bed while the other has a double bed.
Do you cater for people with
disabilities?
All facilities at Hazelgrove are on the ground floor so you do
not have to worry about any steps or stairs when you are inside the cottage.
The path from the parking area to the front door is on a slope and there are
also some steps which you would have to climb to reach the front door so we
are afraid that the cottage is not suitable for those confined wholly to a
wheelchair.
Do you have a shower or a bath tub
The large bathroom has both a bath tub and a separate shower. There
is also a heated towel rail in the bathroom
Can we book the cottage for just
a few days or for a long weekend?
We are sorry, but the cottage is let on a weekly basis (7 days) from
Saturday to Saturday.
What time can we check in?
You are welcome to check in any time after 4.00 p.m. on the
Saturday of your arrival.
When do we have to check out?
We request that you check out by
10.00 a.m. on the Saturday of departure.
How late can we arrive?
If you have a long journey to get here we understand that you may arrive
later in the evening but don't worry, you will still have access to the
cottage
Is there free off-road
parking?
Yes, we have plenty of free off-road parking. When you first arrive, just
park to the right of the cottage in front of the Hazelgrove sign
Are you within walking
distance of a pub
I'm afraid that if you like to go to the pub each evening and you don't want
to drive, then Hazelgrove is probably not for you. The closest pub/hotel is 2
miles from Hazelgrove in the village of Foyers - a great walk during the
long summer evenings but out of the question in a rural area during the
winter months.
If we don't want to eat at
Hazelgrove in the evening, are there good restaurants nearby?
Yes, although the nearest restaurants and cafe are in Foyers, 2
miles from Hazelgrove. Alternatively you can eat at Dores, Inverness or Fort
Augustus
Is there enough to do at
Hazelgrove to stay for two weeks?
Absolutely! Many guests who come for only a week
are disappointed to have to move on because they realise that there is so
much more to see in the area. There is easily enough for you to stay for two
weeks.
Have a look at our walking and
touring pages to get an idea of where you can explore from Hazelgrove. We
also have a comprehensive collection of great walks and maps for you and we
are happy to suggest tailor made itineraries to make sure you make
the best use of your time in the area.
We want to leave on Friday rather than Saturday - is this OK?
Of course - we appreciate that you may have a long drive home and might want
to do this over two days. If you do wish to leave on Friday, it would be
appreciated if you would let us know.
Is it safe to let the dogs out in
the garden unsupervised?
Certainly. The garden is secure for your pet(s) to enjoy the space offered
Can I have a discount?
All discounts are indicated in our "Special offers" section which we put on
our website at specific times of the year. No other discounts are available. Not only
would this be unfair to guests booking at regular prices and well in
advance, but our standard prices are already very reasonable.
What do the Stars and
Green Tourism award mean? Who inspects you?
In Scotland we have an excellent organisation which offers independent
inspections of all types of accommodation. VisitScotland assesses the
quality and awards an appropriate grading. Self Catering establishments are awarded 1
- 5 stars. Although there is no legal requirement to be inspected we firmly
believe in the grading scheme as we feel that it helps visitors to choose
quality accommodation. Hazelgrove has received a 4 Star rating (Excellent) from
VisitScotland as well as a "Gold Award" from the Green Tourism Business
Scheme which recognises our commitment to minimising the impact our business
has on the environment.
And finally........
Have you seen the Monster??
Well, that would be telling!
